Lacaton & Vassal public meeting with students of UNICA
On the occasion of the exhibition Free Space-Transformation-Habiter, Anne Lacaton and Jean Philippe Vassal meet with students from the DICAAR department of the University of Cagliari. An opportunity to engage with the two French architects, winners of the prestigious Pritzker Prize in 2021, through a direct dialogue with students on the themes developed in the three sections announced in the exhibition title, which allow us to reinterpret the distinctive features of a working methodology based on the solid relationship between architecture and users that fuels the spirit of good living.
What happens when two Pritzker Prize winners engage in dialogue with the minds of tomorrow? On 19 December, in the evocative Sala Volte of the Exma, the dream of many @UniCA students and doctoral candidates became a reality.
Anne Lacaton and Jean Philippe Vassal met with the students of DICAAR for an open dialogue that went far beyond technical matters. At the heart of the Free Space-Transformation-Habiter exhibition, the students explored the secrets of urban redevelopment:
Never start from scratch: Value what already exists as a resource, not as a constraint. The human factor: Design to improve the quality of life of those who inhabit the spaces.
Curiosity and context: Get to know a place thoroughly before transforming it.
A lesson in architecture and life: the purest creativity comes from respect for what already exists.
