Green light for the possible construction of the #EinsteinTelescope in Sardinia. The go-ahead was given today, at the T-Hotel in Cagliari, by the preliminary conference of services on the preparatory study for the technical, economic, and environmental feasibility project of the future #gravitationalwave observatory.

The conference, promoted by INFN and convened by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, brought together administrations and the various bodies involved in the project, which were called upon to express their opinions on the pre-feasibility study for ET. The study – carried out within the framework of the #NRRP ETIC project – developed both possible configurations of the experiment: a triangular-shaped detector with 10-kilometre arms, and an L-shaped detector with 15-kilometre arms.

The conference unanimously issued a positive assessment of both alternative project configurations. Among the sites competing to host the Einstein Telescope, the Sardinian candidacy is the first to obtain favorable technical opinions through a preliminary conference of services.
